Cradle River pollution

  2023/07/18  11h27  Blougat where it flows under the N14.  A sewage smell is present on the bridge.  A complaint has been lodged on the Mogale WhatsApp line for the N14/Blougat bridge.

  Bergland. 2023/07/18 11h06. Water level about normal.  Visibility staying poor, can’t see bed.  Water has a dark greyish/green tint to it.  Not much smell.  Very little foam present. Gassing taking place. Seen blots of oil on the water surface.

 2023/07/18 10h26. Delportan, the manhole that usually overflows isn’t and the ground has dried.  Rehabilitation still needs to be done. The next one also dry.  But nothing has been rehabilitated as yet. Looking into one of the open manholes one can see the swirling waste part of the way up the inside of the manhole.  From my opinion this pipeline is carrying maximum capacity at the moment. The actual location of the sewage trucks dumping their loads.  The area is deteriorating and from my opinion it is only a matter of time before trucks get stuck in the sewage mud or cause the manhole to collapse.  The splash over is ongoing and is flowing out through the back fence and down the side of the ravine into the Blougat Spruit.  This was reported on the Mogale WhatsApp number.
