Cradle River pollution

2024/08/02  10:45  Delportan sewage truck dump site.  Lack of control, no security here currently.  It seems to be a do as you like here, quite a mess.  I understand from the drivers no security since Monday. Manhole overflowing into the ravine down to the Blougat Spruit.  

 2024/08/02  Munsieville Ext4. Sewage Pump Station, still not working and honeysuckers are being used to keep volume of waste in sump under control.  Can see the dampness on the road in the intersection.

2024/07/30. 12:20. Brickvale/Tarlton.  This is the pit next to the N14 where the sewage from Brickvale is ending up.  This pit is slowly filling up.  When I was here last it was empty. Flow coming into the pit.  

2024/07/30. 10:45. Riet Spruit at R563.  Dark greyish colour and no noticeable smell, smell from recent veld fire overpowering.  This is sample point 4.

 2024/07/30. 10:35. Riet Spruit at Malmani Road.  Quite clear and volume staying consistent.  Sample point 3.

Bergland. 2024/07/30 10:15 Water has a dark greyish black discolouration.  Strongish smell present close to the river. No foam, but lots of gassing and some floating black clumps. Sample point 2. Looks as if start to replace low water bridge that was washed away a few years ago.

Upstream Downstream   2024/07/30. 09:50. Blougat Spruit close to Robert Broom.  Slightly discoloured, some foam.  No smell.  Sample point 1.

Looking downstream. Looking upstream Upstream side of bridge, stumps and rubbish from last summer's rains against bridge.  2024/07/29 11:00. Blougat Spruit at N14. Grey with a slight greenish tint.  Seems to be slightly less foam.  Some smell present.  Can see the left over tree stumps and such against the bridge from last summer/s rains.
