Bergland. 2023/09/29 11:03 Water level about normal. Visibility staying poor, can’t see bed. Water has a grey tint to it. There is a strongish smell. Some foam present. Quite a lot of gassing taking place, if anything the gassing is getting worse with time. There is a thin oil film on the water as well.

2023/09/26 09:30 Munsieville ext.4 sewage pump station. Dysfunctional and this way for quite some time. The raw sewage flows across the roads in the area due to the blockage. The waste flows out the back and into a stream in the valley that flows down to the Blougat. the confluence of this stream with the Blougat is slightly down stream from Percy Stewart but upstream from my observation point at Bergland. (Thanks David)

2023/09/19 10:30 During the past few months the Save The Cradle Rivers Group has been quite busy with various interventions. One of the interventions that has been successfully completed is the Delportan sewage truck dump site. A decent thick reinforced concrete slab with retaining wall at the back has been thrown and two sliding gates installed. The above photos show what has been done, and how it works. There are also two security personnel at the site who are checking permits and recording details of trucks coming to unload. Hopefully in the near future there will be Mogale personnel on site to take random samples from the trucks to ensure that the waste is within parameters to be able to be handled by the Percy Stewart WWTWs. This should stop all sewage waste from activities here from flowing down the side of the ravine and into the Blougat Spruit.

There is a strongish smell, being blown away by the wind. Some foam present. Gassing taking place. Can only really see the fat/oil in the reflection of the sun.

2023/08/15 9:45. Delportan sewage truck dump site. Slushy mess here this morning. Trucks reversing are causing the sand to become mud and is slowly sliding into the manhole. Can see a rock on the side that is ready to drop into the manhole. Trucks reversing are causing the sand to become mud and is slowly sliding into the manhole. There’s stuff flowing out the back fence again, going to the Blougat Spruit. This manhole on the main sewer pipeline has overflowed very recently. (Does it on a regular basis) Pipeline coming from Delportan to the main pipeline. A bend on the pipe is broken, splashing out. Looking at the area would seem that if there is any increase in volume there is spillages here. Spillages possibly chemicals, fats, oils etc. from the various industries in Delportan. Looking into manhole, waste from right hand is from pipe from Delportan. It looks as if the main pipeline is nearly at full capacity. There’s a lot of spillage on the road down to...
