Access road to AMD outflow from wetlands. Original pipe in background and new pipes in the front. Additional outflow. Original outflow. Original outflow. Sediment taken place Sediment taken place.  AMD 2023/01/18 9h22 There is still a substantial amount of water flowing out of the AMD wetlands.  Some earth works have been done and looks like at least two additional large diameter steel pipes have been laid to cope with the volume.  In the pics I tried to show the additional pipes and outflow from the wetlands as well as the original flow.  The last pics show the reddish sediment that has taken place.

AMD 2023/01/09 15h10 Substantial amount of water flowing out of the AMD wetlands.  Access roads flooded.  Normally all the flow is in the one concrete pipe.  Guess the excessive decanting is ongoing due to the heavy rains. Without an water analysis one would know what the water is actually like. There was an e-mail from the responsible person at DWS confirming that the Western Basin decanting is ongoing and that the treatment plant is working above capacity to minimise the impact.  They are expecting the decanting to continue.
AMD 2022/12/19 20h20 Regarding the increased AMD flow shown last week Thursday apparently there are some issues being experienced by the Trans-Caledon Tunnel Authority (TCTA) at the Western Basin Treatment plant due to the high levels of rainfall which have resulted in some additional decanting taking place.  I'm attaching their media release from the 13th December which goes into more detail. Please note the warning in the document:  "All residents and communities residing along the Tweelopies River are urged to avoid using the water in the interlinked streams, rivers and dams, until further notice."
