Cradle River pollution

  26th June 2023 11h15.  Delportan, manhole on the man sewer line to Percy Stewart waste water treatment works overflowing again.  The overflow goes down the side of the ravine and into the Blougat Spruit.  Was reported to Mogale Municipality.

  2023/06/24 09h12  Extreme foam on the Blaauwbank Spruit downstream from the Danielsrust low water bridge.  Sent by landowner.

  AMD 2023/06/20 9:15 There is still an substantial amount of water flowing out of the AMD wetlands, the original channel is the volume there always has been 1st pic, the 2nd pic shows the additional flow although less than earlier this year.

Water level about normal.  Visibility staying poor, can’t see bed.  Water has a greyish and slight greenish tint to it.  Strongish fatty type smell.  Not much foam present.  A lot of particles in suspension. Gassing taking place. Seems to have a thin oil film on the water surface.

  2023/06/09 09h14  Residents for Danielsrust discussing pollution in the Blaauwbank Spruit with Mr. Jaco Mulder Freedom Front Plus MP. There was an enlightening discussion this morning about the specific issues.  Jaco Mulder is seeing a number of pollution issues in the West Rand and hopefully he will be able to put some pressure on the appropriate high level authorities to start to take the issues seriously.  Thanks to those who were able to attend.

2023/06/02 12h37 Delportan sewage truck dump site.  Mogale has made it easier for the spillage to get to the Blougat. ‎Location: https://maps.google.com/?q=-26.079714,27.738575 Some equipment here.  attending too previous complaint of manholes overflowing into the Blougat Spruit. A manhole rings have been moved and some overflow, some action but!! The manhole that was originally overflowing, very wet around it. Mogale staff busy with rods to hopefully clear the problem!
