2022/08/15, 09h23  Some bad news, heard that a manhole on the main sewer pipeline to Percy Stewart next to Robert Broom is overflowing into the Blougat.  The pipeline is blocked and needs to be dug open to repair.  No indication of how long to repair.  Will be going past there tomorrow morning.

2022/08/16, 09:37  Manhole overflowing into the Blougat Spruit.  This is on the West Krugersdorp side. (on the eastern side of Robert Broom)


Equipment is on site to dig but no idea how long to fix.  Problem could be under Robert Broom

2022/08/18, 09h55  It seems as if the overflow has been cleared but there is all the rubbish on the ground still.  Also not all manhole covers replaced.  No rehabilitation was done.

2024/09/06. 09:55. Munsieville ext4 sewage pump station. (top right) Manhole that sometimes overflows into the intersection, can see it has recently. Not much working here. Overflowing manhole across the road from the pump station. Area behind pump station, sewage come out of back of residences. The structure that was here has been removed.  Floor is still flooded. Sewage bubbling out of pipe at the back of a toilet.  Sewage should be flowing in the other direction.  Down the road on its way to the Blougat and the Cradle.  Smell is back.

2024/09/06. 08:45. Brickvale, Tarlton.  Still not operational.  Sewage holes are quite full and very dark grey almost black with lots of gassing and a strong smell. Trench doing to pit Continuous flow of sewage entering the pit. The pit next to the N14, slowly filling up.  Can compare with the photos taken on the 30th July to see increase in levels.

 2023/09/19  10:30  During the past few months the Save The Cradle Rivers Group has been quite busy with various interventions.  One of the interventions that has been successfully completed is the Delportan sewage truck dump site. A decent thick reinforced concrete slab with retaining wall at the back has been thrown and two sliding gates installed. The above photos show what has been done, and how it works. There are also two security personnel at the site who are checking permits and recording details of trucks coming to unload.   Hopefully in the near future there will be Mogale personnel on site to take random samples from the trucks to ensure that the waste is within parameters to be able to be handled by the Percy Stewart WWTWs. This should stop all sewage waste from activities here from flowing down the side of the ravine and into the Blougat Spruit.
